For those of you who don't already know, we have some really great thrift stores in Decatur. I've picked up countless pairs of jeans, tops, handbags and kids toys at these places for pennies on the dollar.
I love Talbots stuff and I find a lot of it at DMH Thrift Shop which is located here:
553 West Wood Street
Decatur, IL 62522-3111
(217) 428-8512
DMH Thrift shop is probably my favorite thrift store. They also have a lot of brand new beanie babies. If you go to the DMH hospital, you can apply for a card that gives you a discount at the thrift shop and the hospital gift shop too. Just ask at the front desk.
The thrift shop also has bag sales twice a year and this is when you can fill a 13 gallon garbage sack for $5 with anything you want. You definitely do NOT want to miss that sale.
My 2nd favorite place is probably the Salvation Army which is located here:
1447 West King Street, Decatur, IL
Everytime I try to call their phone number, I wind up getting their fax so I'm not going to try to list a phone number here.
This is a great place to get furniture and home dec. They have so many framed pictures, it's unreal. I get jeans here too. I don't have much luck finding handbags, but I like the bigger, more modern ones.
They seem to have 1/2 off everything sales on holidays. I expect the next one to be the 23rd or 27th of December. Their sales are advertised in the Herald & Review.
Happy Hunting!
